Age Appropriate For: All Ages
Best for Ages: 8-15

Description: Sandra-Lee Baldwin accidentaly sets her neighbour's haystack alight, but that's not the issue. The real issue is that she doesn't confess she is the culprit. Her guilt steadily grows, causing her to be uneasy around her family, and best of friends. Life changing things occur in Sandra's life which would have never happened if that dreadful fire didn't start in the first place.

Let me start off by saying that Ada shows a lot of promise. This is only her first book, and already she has a lot of the basics down. She has a good plot and great characters, and that makes up for the fact that the writing is a bit rough in places.

This book is perfect for younger readers. It is a nice short read that many younger readers are sure to enjoy. It teaches a good lesson on telling the truth and taking responsibility for your actions, even when it is hard.

Sandra-lee is a wonderful character to whom a lot of younger readers can relate. The way she struggles to do what is right is something a lot of young people will understand.

This book is set in Australia, because that is where the author lives. There might be a word or two that Americans might not be familiar with, but nothing that isn’t easy to figure out in context.
I recommend this to younger readers who like stories that teach good lessons, realistic main characters, and contemporary stories.

I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. I was under no obligation to write a positive review. The opinions in this review are entirely my own.

  1. I have never read the book, but the author is my sister's best friend so I think I'll have to get my hands on it.
